18. Glossary
- aliasing
- When adjacent periodic frequency responses from a discrete sampled
signal or image overlap producing a distortion.
- basis function
- In mathematics, a basis function is an element of a particular basis
for a function space. Every continuous function in the function
space can be represented as a linear combination of basis functions,
just as every vector in a vector space can be represented as a
linear combination of basis vectors. Source: Wikipedia
- frequency
- The rate at which something occurs or is repeated over a
particular period of time or in a given sample.
- imload
- Load an image from a file into MATLAB.
- pixel-cycle
- A set of linear image pixels that correlate to a periodic function,
such as , , or square wave, traversing one
cycle. The set of pixels in a pixel-cycle should show periodicity
with respect to relatively light and dark pixels. See
Units and Intuitive Feel for Frequency in Images.
